Welcome to Calvary UPC where you will feel the awesome presence of the Lord Jesus Christ!  We believe in praising the Lord like the Bible says: It says to make a joyful noise unto the Lord. We strive to provide a welcoming environment where you will feel comfortable. If you do not have a church home as of yet we would like you to consider making this “your” church. We would love to have you as part of our family.

The Bible

The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God.  It is the sole authority for faith, doctrine and instruction in Christian living.

God

God is absolutely one, with no distinction of persons.  "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD" (Deuteronomy 6:4).  (See also Isaiah 44:8; 45:5-6, 21-23; 46:9; Romans 3:30; Galatians 3:20; James 2:19.)

We teach that the one God who revealed Himself in the Old Testament as Jehovah revealed himself in His Son, Jesus Christ. Thus Jesus Christ was and is God. In other words, Jesus is the one true God manifested in flesh, for in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (John 1:1-14; I Timothy 3:16; Colossians 2:9). While fully God, Jesus was also fully man, possessing a full and true humanity. He was both God and man. Moreover, the Holy Spirit is God with us and in us. Thus God is manifested as Father in creation and as the Father of the Son, in the Son for our redemption, and as the Holy Spirit in our regeneration.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by works. Faith in Jesus is the means by which a person is justified. At the same time, a sinner must believe the gospel; he is commanded to repent of his sinful life, to be baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ, and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38; 4:12; 8:12-17; 10:43-48; 19:1-6).

Holiness

We believe that the Christian must live a life of holiness, both inward and outward including conduct and dress.

Biblical Expressions of Worship

–We pray together aloud because in the Bible we read, "They lifted up their voice to God with one accord".   (Acts 4:24).

–We lift our hands in praise because in the Bible we read, "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord" (Psalm 134:2).

–We sing with all our hearts because in the Bible we read, "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth:  make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise" (Psalm 98:4).

–We play musical instruments because in the Bible we read, "And all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments" (2 Samuel 6:5).

–We clap and shout unto God because in the Bible we read, "O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph" (Psalm 47:1).

–We dance before the LORD because in the Bible we read, "Praise Him with the timbrel and dance:  praise Him with stringed instruments and organs" (Psalm 150:4).

–We testify publicly because in the Bible we read, "I will declare thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee" (Psalm 22:22).

–We anoint with oil for divine healing because in the Bible we read, "Is any sick among you?  Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord" (James 5:14).

–We allow the operation of the spiritual gifts because in the Bible we read, "When ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation" (1 Corinthians 14:26).

CHILDREN

Wednesdays at 7:00pm is Children's Church. Children ages 3-11 meet together for a time of worship, fun, and learning. Organized by our Sunday School Department, our teams of teachers rotate weekly and teach the children Bible lessons in a stimulating and enriching way.

YOUTH

Committed to Christ Youth Ministries is comprised of devoted and dedicated young people who strive to make God their number one priority.  Some of the activities we are involved in are:

  • Youth Prayer the second Monday of the month

  • Teen Class every Wednesday at 7:00pm

  • Youth Services and fun nights

LADIES

The second Monday of every month at 7:00 PM is Ladies Prayer Meeting.

PRAYER

Every Saturday morning at 9:30 AM we meet for GAP (Greater Anointed Prayer).  The focus of prayer at GAP ranges from Global Missions, to children and youth, to friends and family; and every Saturday we pray for a move of God in our Sunday Services.  We also have prayer prior to every service.  We believe in the power of prayer and the faithfulness of our God.  If you have a prayer request, please contact us at prayer@calvary-upc.org. We also are involved with a statewide network of prayer.

GLOBAL MISSIONS

We support UPCI Global Missionaries all over the world financially and with our prayers.  From time to time, we adopt special projects to help these missionaries in their field of labor.  In the past, we have purchased computer equipment, books and literature, tools, tents and chairs, among various other things.  We take groups on mission trips to hold evangelistic services, pass out tracks, labor, or do whatever is helpful to the local missionary.  We have several missionaries come to Calvary United Pentecostal Church and minister to us throughout the year.

ACCESSIBILITY

*Our church is handicap accessible.
